(Q) What does an Apprenticeship involve? (A) An Apprenticeship involves working towards National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ), Technical Certificate (Underpinning Knowledge for the NVQ) Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number and an Employer Rights and Responsibilities module. You will be placed within a work area for you to gain practical experience.
(Q) What qualifications do I need to do an Apprenticeship programme? (A) No formal qualifications are required but motivation, enthusiasm and commitment to the Care sector are essential.
(Q) What can I do an Apprenticeship in? (A) Health Care, Children’s Care Learning & Development and Oral Health.
(Q) How old do I need to be to start an Apprenticeship programme? (A) You should be aged between 16 and 24 years of age.
(Q) Do I need to be employed? (A) This depends on the sector you choose. In Health Care and Oral Health you do not need to be employed. For 16 to 18 year olds in Children’s Care Learning & Development you do not need to be employed. For 19+ in Children’s Care Learning & Development funding is sought on an individual basis.
(Q) How long is an Apprenticeship programme? (A) This ranges from 9 months to 15 months depending on the level of Apprenticeship.
(Q) Do I get paid whilst on an Apprenticeship programme? (A) You can apply for an EMA weekly payment of up to £30 depending on your total household earnings.
